Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets dominated the Minnesota Timberwolves in game 5, beating them 112-97. Jokic dropped 40 points, 13 assists, and 7 rebounds on the Timberwolves. In addition to this, his teammates, Jamal Murray dropped 16 points and made 4 assists and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope dropped 16 points and 4 assists on the Timberwolves in their crucial game 5 win.

Interestingly, during the game, there was a slick play between Jokic and Murray which resulted in Jokic dropping a statement dunk on the Timberwolves. In the 4th quarter, Jamal Murray snatches the ball from Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards and passes it on to Jokic who then showcases his athleticism with a statement dunk on the Timberwolves.

Jokic and smooth point guard Jamal Murray have a particularly strong bond; in fact, they may be the league’s most psychically connected pair. They can be very hard to silence since Murray is very inventive with his ways of tearing around screens, and because both of them are willing and capable deep shooters.

On the other hand, the Timberwolves star duo Anthony Edwards and Rudy Gobert were not at their top form. Edwards had an off night in attack scoring only 18 points as per his standards, while Gobert was completely outclassed by Jokic and his extraordinary gameplay.

Jamal Murray opens up on his bond with Nikola Jokic after game 5 win against the Timberwolves

Many had the Nuggets losing in the NBA playoffs against the Minnesota Timberwolves, but they pulled off an amazing comeback in game 5, leading the series 3-2. After dropping their opening two games, this prediction seemed true, but the Denver Nuggets have shown that they are a legitimate contender for the championship.

This turnaround is most importantly led by their star duo, Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. Jokic and Murray have been immense for the Nuggets over the years and are continuing to show their chemistry on the court consistently. After, the game Jamal Murray spoke about his bond with Jokic.

We came off the bench together...ahh my rookie year and his 2nd year..so we've had chemistry for a long time. Jamal Murray said

Notably, the Nuggets need just one win to qualify for the next round of the playoffs. Jokic and Murray will be focused to get the job done in game 6 against the Timberwolves on Thursday, May 14.
